Periprosthetic Joint Infection Case Study: #AAOS Clinical Practice Guidelines

• ESR and CRP levels should be assessed
• Antibiotics should be stopped(if already started) for 2 weeks before obtaining intra articular culture
• Joint aspiration is recommended in patients with abnormal ESR and CRP
• Intraoperative Gram stain should be done to rule out Periprosthetic Joint Infection
• Antibiotic treatment should not be initiated in patients suspected to have Periprosthetic Joint Infection until after cultures have been obtained
