Clostridium Species and Orthopaedic Implications

Educational video describing various forms of clostridium. Cl difficile, pseudomembranous colitis, its pathogenesis, antibiotic induced diarrhoea, toxic megacolon and treatment. cl perfringens causes gas gangrene, maybe fatal, hence amputation may need to be done early. Cl botulinum can be food borne or infant botulism, can occur due to ingestion of canned food. Botulinum toxin can be used therapeutically for the treatment of muscle spasticity in cerebral palsy
