The authors launch the 2nd edition of their highly popular book ‘Concise Orthopaedic Notes’ first published in 2019. The original edition has already been awarded the winner in the ‘Best new orthopaedic book’ category by BookAuthority.
This book is extremely useful for any professional involved in trauma and orthopaedics and is particularly catered for the trainee who is due to give his/her orthopaedic exams. There is a specific introductory chapter on this which gives specific details of what to expect for the UK and International FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) exit examination as well as the European Board (EBOT).
The authors have taken the feedback from the original book very seriously and have done a complete overhaul of the chapters to make it more readable yet providing comprehensive subject content.
The overall outline of the book is simplified with bullet points and easily reproducible diagrams with an eye on the most common themes asked in an orthopaedic exam. The quality and presentation have hence been upgraded.
You will also find within the chapters, reference to the seminal papers on a topic with some brief details which will be useful to score the higher marks particularly in the orthopaedic vivas.
Each chapter has been written by multiple authors who have all been through these professional exams and have attended multiple preparatory courses themselves thereby providing useful first-person insight into how one can prepare for success.
There are QR codes interspersed within the chapters which when scanned using your smartphone camera, link up to either the corresponding seminal paper or to a YouTube video pertaining to the topic discussed.
All in all, this book covers the length and breadth of the subject of trauma and orthopaedics with emphasis on the knowledge that one would need to prepare for an orthopaedic exam
