ANATOMY OF PECTINEUS MUSCLE
Pectineus muscle is a flat quadrangular muscle situated at the anterior part of upper medial aspect of thigh
It is one of the six adductors of thigh
ORIGIN
From superior pubic ramus
INSERTION
Into pectineal line and linea aspera of femur
NERVE SUPPLY
Predominantly by femoral nerve,along with obturator nerve in some cases and accessory obturator nerve in one third of cases.
ACTION
Adducts hip and supports external rotation and flexion of hip joint
Adductors of thigh are important in balance during standing and walking
