This video focuses on the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome.The cardinal symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome are pain, paraesthesia and numbness along the distribution of median nerve in the hand. The symptoms are more at night .A positive Tinel’s sign, Phalen’s test, Durkan’s test and the clinical finding of thenar atrophy point towards the diagnosis.Treatment modalities can be: non -surgical such use of anti-inflammatory agents, activity modification, applying neutral wrist splints and use of steroid injections.Failure of these measures will necessitate surgical intervention-carpal tunnel release wherein the transverse carpal ligament is divided.One should take care that the ligament is divided far ulnarly, otherwise it can injure the recurrent motor branch of median nerve
